Olive - Year 6

Welcome to Olive Class.

The class teacher is Mrs Gunn who is supported by Mrs Rixon.

Main Topics and Trips for 2024/2025

This year, Olive Class will learn about Global Population, Ancient Greece and World War 2. You will find more information about how each topic is covered in our curriculum maps, which are at the bottom of this page.

Our class timetable can also be found at the bottom of the page. The timetable is subject to change.

Our trips for the year will be PGL for our overnight stay, the Science museum,  Shrek Adventures, Chislehurst Caves and a cinema trip.

Physical Education (PE)

Our PE days are every Monday and Wednesday

Your child needs to come into school wearing their PE kit, which consists of a plain t-shirt in their house colours, plain black joggers/shorts and a plain jumper. Trainers are also allowed. Your child will stay in their PE kit for the whole day.

Homework

Homework will be set every Friday and will consist of Mathletics tasks, Read Theory, a set of spelling words (spelling sentences and on Spelling Shed) and an option from the homework menu. Please return the homework on Friday, so it can be checked.

Reading and Reading Records

We expect your child to read every day. Your child's reading record must be brought in every day to be signed. Reading is such an important part of your child's development, so please prioritise this task.

Our Class Rewards

We have many rewards in Olive Class, which consist of:

Class dojo points, house points, prize box for homework and certificates every Friday.

To earn house points, your child will show behaviours or knowledge which is above our usual expectations.

Golden Globes are also awarded to the class for exceptional behaviour around the school and the class with the most Golden Globes will be announced in the weekly assembly.
