Swimming
Year 6 children in KS2 receive swimming lessons paid for by the school in the summer term. Not from the Sports Premium. Any child who is unable to swim 25m in the final half term of year 6 is placed on an intensive swimming course in June/July to give them further support in reaching this target. % below are for children who can swim 25m unaided in a stroke of their choice. They can use front crawl, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly to a basic standard. They have also performed a safe self-rescue in the swimming pool in at least two different scenarios.
July 2019 % of children at the end of year 6 who can swim 25m = 87% (After the intensive swimming course 26/30 pupils could swim 25m)
July 2020 % of children at the end of year 6 who can swim 25m = Unfortunately due to the National Lockdown and the closure of swimming pools year 6 did not have their usual swimming lessons. The % figure at the end of year 6 was 83% (25/30 children).
July 2021 % of children at the end of year 6 who can swim 25m = 34% (Data taken from the end of year 4 as swimming lessons did not occur in year6)
July 2022 % of children at the end of year 6 who can swim 25m =76% (44/58 children) The figure before the top-up swimming week was 57% (33/58 children) The top-up swimming week had 25 children. 11 of which made it to their 25m badge.
July 2023 % of children at the end of year 6 who can swim 25m =65% (39/60 children) The figure before the top-up swimming week was 43% (26/60 children) The top-up swimming week had 34 children. 13 of which made it to their 25m badge.
