Congratulations to Elder class for their excellent attendance this week. We had our first Attendance competition results in assembly this morning and it was great to see the excitement again to see which class will be the winner this term. As Ash and Maple classes have been combined into one registration group (The Orchard) we needed a 16th team to ensure every class had a weekly fixture, so we have included the Staff as a group this year and the children are very keen to beat the staff for attendance. The staff beat Birch this week 93% to 90% and Walnut have the pleasure of going against the staff next week. Although with a score of 96% this week, the staff need to improve their attendance! Cough and cold season is upon us and Poverest, like all local schools, is seeing a reduced attendance because of this but as soon as your child is well enough to be back in school they should return, even if they are still displaying minor symptoms.
Unfortunately this week we had two big events cancelled. Firstly we are sorry the bouncy castle event was postponed again but when there are high wind gusts it is just not safe for the children. Our Fab First Aid event was cancelled due to illness today but we will book it in again for all the children in years 2 and 6 as soon as we can.
Good luck to the girls' and boys' football teams who are playing away at Southborough this afternoon. It is wonderful to see school competitions happening again after the summer.
Next week we have our Harvest Festival on Friday. Bromley Food Bank has requested toilet rolls and sponge puddings as donations from Poverest. At this time of year the local food banks often end up with too many donations of certain food types and not enough of others so this way we know all our donations will go to good use for people in our local community who need help at this time in their lives.
Looking further ahead we have sent out the request form for our Grandparents' Tea Party. We know this can be difficult for some children who are not fortunate enough to be able to have grandparents attend, however it is a very popular event - so much so we have two shows, one in the morning and one in the afternoon - and we can not allow parents to attend as well. Parents will have their own special event in the Spring. The Friends of Poverest are in desperate need of volunteers for their events, including the Grandparents' Tea Party, so if you are available to help them by volunteering please send them an email.
I wish you all a lovely weekend.
