We've had yet another busy week at Poverest, as the cold weather has arrived. Please ensure your children are suitably clothed for cold weather, as we still want to make full use of our outdoor spaces.
On Monday, we welcomed our School Improvement partner for a visit to assess our progress against the targets set by Ofsted. I'm delighted to report that the visit was another successful one and I’m very thankful to the staff for their hard work and time spent in preparing phonics so that we have consistency across the school. It is great to have the external validation of what we, as a leadership team, have observed - our phonics programme and teaching are exactly what they need to be. The second part of the visit shifted to writing in Key Stage 2. While the improvements we've made so far were acknowledged and appreciated, we're not resting on our laurels. We have ambitious plans in place to further enhance our pupils' writing abilities, ensuring every child at Poverest reaches their full potential.
Wednesday brought another highlight as we opened our doors for our second open morning of this year, welcoming potential new parents. We received very positive feedback about our school and it is lovely to show it off, however, credit goes to the year 6 children who did an excellent job as tour guides.
I'd like to extend a big thank you to Mrs Rautenbach for hosting a fantastic free parent workshop on supporting children with writing. For those who were able to attend, I hope you left brimming with ideas and strategies to help your children flourish as writers.
Something that always brings a smile to my face - our EYFS Wedding Week! Watching our youngest children plan and prepare a whole wedding celebration is wonderful to see. Friday's big event was a big success, showcasing the creativity, teamwork, and sheer enthusiasm of Willow and Walnut classes.
These moments - from official visits and parent workshops to imaginative play and learning - are what make Poverest such a vibrant, thriving school community. They demonstrate our commitment to providing a rich, varied education that nurtures every aspect of our children’s development.
Have a great weekend and we look forward to more exciting events next week.
