Entering into a new year comes with many responsibilities, especially as year 6 are role models for Poverest. The teaching staff have had a great time getting to know all the children through their personalised ‘all about me’ work. This has already enabled us to build bonds and get to know their unique personalities. The children have settled well into the term and have already started showing their many talents.
In English, the children have started writing letters to Mr. Haylock explaining their many qualities for each of the positions available. The children are excited to have their letters read by Mr. Haylock and to learn which positions they will acquire. These will be announced next week alongside their new shiny badge.
In maths, the children have been busy showing off their mathematical skills, whilst covering the topic of place value. They have used a variety of resources to show their working out as well as challenging themselves within the topic.
Throughout the week, the children have taken part in a variety of foundation subjects from learning about the Abrahamic religions to population changes around the world. These new topics have enabled the children to immerse themselves in their learning through discussions and debates.
We are all looking forward to our first trip out to Shrek’s Adventures, where we will be learning about traditional fairy tales, which will help enormously in their writing for our upcoming book Grimm Tales.
